Am Thementag „Auf das Leben“, der im Zuge des Jubiläumsjahres „1700 Jahre jüdisches Leben in Deutschland“ stattfindet, lesen Schauspieler*innen aus dem Ensemble des STM aus Erzählungen, Romanen und Reportagen des in Duisburg aufgewachsenen Schriftstellers Walter Kaufmann, der kurz vor Ausbruch des Zweiten Weltkriegs mit einem der letzten „Kindertransporte“ nach England kam. Zahlreiche Reisen, unter andrem nach Japan, Israel und in die USA fanden Eingang in Kaufmanns Literatur.
