Kurdish Folk Music
Aynur Doğan is one of the most renowned contemporary Kurdish singers. Her unique voice infuses traditional Kurdish folk music with present-day sensitivities. Her seventh album “Hedûr,” which roughly translates into “finding solace in the passing of time,” was released in February 2020. While it contains a strong consolatory component, it also denounces the intense suffering and injustice in her homeland Turkey. In 2017, Aynur Doğan received the Master of Mediterranean Music Award for her efforts to conserve and revitalize Kurdish folk music.
