This is not about monsters. Or is it? An invitation to encounter those fleeting figures that appear within us, sometimes quietly, sometimes loudly, when closeness reaches its limits. When we don't know whether we are falling or flying. When trust is challenging.
Beasts & Bodies is dedicated to what we cannot bear alone. Between the fear of losing control and the longing for the unknown, new places unfold in between. Riding through familiar and distant spaces, bodies reposition themselves, shift layers, and take off. A piece that defies gravity—in an atmosphere of neon circus and fairground glitch.
What does a body that doesn't think for itself look like? What does a movement that doesn't yet know which direction it will take sound like? What if trust is not a promise of security, but a courageous step into togetherness? What beastly superpowers and sweet monsters do we want by our side then?
With its unmistakable signature style between contemporary dance and acrobatics, Overhead Project creates an impressive performance about closeness, risk, and what can happen when we impose ourselves on each other.
Beasts & Bodies is the first part of the series “Transgressing bodies,” in which the Overhead Project company explores the boundaries of collective imagination over several years.

Remarks
The Cologne-based company Overhead Project is known for performances that blur the lines between contemporary circus and dance, with acrobats and dancers working together to open up different perspectives on the human body. The company has received a number of international awards and choreography prizes for its work, including the Tabori Award from the Performing Arts Fund in 2022.
