In the film series "Dem Land seine Bilder geben" (Giving the Land its Images), Filmbüro NW shows films from 42 years of Filmbüro at their places of origin, this time in Mülheim an der Ruhr. This evening: "Ruhr Record" by Mülheim director Rainer Komers (2014, 45 min.) followed by a film discussion (moderated by Marcus Seibert).
The Ruhr region, an agglomeration of suburbs, work and research sites, and leisure facilities of all kinds, perforated by earth movements and traffic arteries, is the subject of the fourth film in the "Four Elements" tetralogy. A leitmotif of the image-sound composition "Ruhr Record" is the element "fire/light". "Atmospherically dense, surprising, almost experimentally edited, over all a touch of melancholy and yet a declaration of love for a region whose diversity can hardly be put into words. Rainer Komers succeeds with 'Ruhr Record' an impressive homage to his 'Revier' ". LICHTER Film Festival - Frankfurt
The first comprehensive monograph "Außen Fuji Tag" presents the multi-award-winning documentary oeuvre of Rainer Komers. At the same time, the volume presents his lesser-known works as a lyricist, typographer, photographer and poster designer. The show of works shows how the different arts have influenced and promoted each other over the years.
Following the film and the film discussion with Marcus Seibert, director Rainer Komers will read from his book "Outside Fuji Day.
