It is the largest charity event of its kind organised by the German Red Cross in Germany: the DRK Duisburg's festive opera gala has been a highlight of the city's social life for years and is well-known and popular far beyond its borders.
For the first time, the 18th edition of the gala will be held in the Mercatorhalle Philharmonic Hall: soloists from the Deutsche Oper am Rhein ensemble and the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a glittering musical programme together, waiving their fees in aid of the DRK.
