Quick Info
Rike Scheffler's Echoes from the Future is a vibrant concert ritual that uses voice, effects devices and synthesizers to open doors to a possible future. Voices of humans, birds, foxes, volcanoes and AI interweave to form choirs, echoes of cross-species communities — and give us a glimpse of how tender life on our planet could be if we radically changed and transformed our human actions and activities today.
The poems in the performance are based on Scheffler's poetry collection Lava. Rituals (kookbooks, 2023). They appear as fragments handed down from the future — relics of potential presents: a digitally prepared nature, a care AI called ‘Wind’ and ‘dark animals’ are partners here, answering questions that we as humans are only just beginning to dare to ask. Physical, sensual and morphological transformations become tangible. Palm lines evaporate into horizons, melt away. An ego transforms its own body, gains new senses, picks itself up, becomes (again) a being, We. Together we find rituals, we practise revolution.
