“SOMEWHERE” is an immersive virtual reality experience that lets you dive into the inner world of a child who feels lonely. It is a communal and at the same time personal experience: you enter the installation together with other visitors. But as soon as you put on the VR glasses and headphones, you alone embark on a journey through a virtual film world that seems familiar to and yet appears strangely alien. You are a silent observer at a party or find yourself in an empty room where someone suddenly waves at you from the other side. Through powerful visual images, atmosphere, and music, “SOMEWHERE” approaches the theme of loneliness. The artist duo Schippers&VanGucht explores the relationship between distance and proximity and invites us to reflect on the power that can arise when we encounter one another and are truly seen.
