Die lettische Star-Organistin Iveta Apkalna hat längst an allen großen Konzerthaus-Orgeln gespielt und ist zudem seit 2017 Titularorganistin der Hamburger Elbphilharmonie. Dennoch ist es für sie immer wieder etwas Besonderes, wenn sie an die philharmonische Kuhn-Orgel zurückkehrt. Schließlich hat Apkalna an diesem Prachtinstrument ihre ersten gefeierten CDs eingespielt und damit auch diskografisch den Grundstein für ihre Weltkarriere gelegt. Für ihr Solo-Comeback-Konzert hat die mit einem ECHO Klassik ausgezeichnete Orgelvirtuosin jetzt ein spannendes Programm zusammengestellt, bei dem der große Johann Sebastian Bach sowie Philip Glass als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter der Minimal Music die Hauptrollen spielen. Und nach rauschenden Akkordbrechungen und Klangwellenbewegungen, die die Musik von Glass so einzigartig machen, gipfelt der Abend in Bachs berühmter d-Moll-Toccata und Fuge!
