After the jazz saxophonist and tenor Håkon Kornstad thrilled the Ruhrfestspiele audience last year as a soloist, he joins forces with the renowned jazz musicians Frode Haltli on accordion and Mats Eilertsen on double bass this year to form the Kornstad Trio. They combine elements of jazz, classical music, and contemporary sounds and yet, or precisely because of this, move far away from any genre attributions. Not only do the musicians perform at the highest level of their craft with their instruments, but Håkon Kornstad’s expressive voice also contributes a unique element to the concert. The trio is characterized by its innovative arrangements and versatile musicality and is known for its intense live performances, in which it offers its signature blend of melody, improvisation, and harmonic diversity. Each concert takes the audience on a different journey, no two evenings are the same.
