A Project by La Fleur in cooperation with Elisabeth Bakambamba Tambwe
Co-produced with Urbane Künste Ruhr
The transnational performance and dance company La Fleur will present a special production at this year’s Ruhrfestspiele. Director Monika Gintersdorfer and choreographer Franck E. Yao present “LOVE IS A WARM GUN,” an innovative fusion between performative theater and art exhibition. The piece focuses on a truly universal topic: love. It follows choreographer Elisabeth Bakambamba Tambwe’s suggestion to meditate on Roland Barthes’ famous philosophical treatise “A Lover’s Discourse.” La Fleur translates Barthes’ musings on the language of love into motion. Their poignant, urban dance style is displayed in a public rehearsal and performance space, the Tennishalle at Stadtgarten. Audience members are cordially invited to observe the rehearsal process and to discover the development of new performative elements each day.
