Berlin-based author Sunan Gu was awarded the new Volksbühnen Award for Theater Literature during the 2025 Ruhrfestspiele for her play “Mouse, Money, Ghost.” Born in Beijing and raised in Sydney and London, among other places, the author studied theater studies in London and dramatic writing in Berlin. Her texts revolve around identity, morality, and the experiences of Asian immigrants
