Was treibt uns Menschen an, andere beherrschen zu wollen?
Hardly any hero of Greek mythology has to muster more stamina, sophistication and self-discipline than Odysseus. On his adventurous journey through the western Mediterranean he survives numerous obstacles and dangers. Since then, his odyssey has been a symbol of searching and finding, driving and arriving. What odysseys do we embark on in our everyday life, what obstacles are put in our way and what do the beguiling songs of the sirens sound like today?Felix Landerer is the founder of the dance company Landerer&Company, whose work has received several awards. Giuseppe Spota is the director of the MiR Dance Company and is known for his powerfully visual dance language. Together, the two develop a choreography that follows in the footsteps of the heroic epic and traces the journey of today's people. Landerer and Spota draw parallels from the Greek hero to our urge to discover: other countries, languages, unknown cultures line up next to setbacks, bereavements and breaks that make us what or who we are. "Odysseus" becomes a journey to one's own self and illuminates our life as diverse as it is universal as an adventurous odyssey. The evening is rounded off by specially composed orchestral music from Christof Littmann, which accompanies the MiR Dance Company on their very own hike.
