Lou Reed und seine Band The Velvet Underground spielten 1965-66 regelmäßig in Andy Warhols New Yorker „Silver Factory“ zu Undergroundparties auf. In dieser Zeit unmittelbar vor der „Revolution“ von 1968, vor „Summer of Love“ und „Flower Power“ liegt die Ursprungsinspiration zu einem theatralischen Rock-Show-Abend der besonderen Art. Die Parties in der „Factory“, wo nebenan Andys Tomaten-Büchsen-Bilder und stilisierte Pop-Porträts von Marilyn Monroe und Mao Tse Dung entstanden, ebenso wie das Woodstock-Festival von 1969 stehen symptomatisch für die Stimmung dieser Zeit an der amerikanischen Ostküste, die aber Jugendliche auf der ganzen Welt zu spüren meinten. Und das war in dieser Form so vielleicht das erste Mal, dass Globalisierung als Pop-Kultur-Phänomen für alle überall greifbar wurde. 1972 wollte Lou Reed in seinem wohl bekanntesten Song den sexuell aufgeladenen Emanzipationsdrive der Zeit auf den Punkt bringen. Und eben der wird 50 Jahre nach „1968“ zum Motto unserer Undergroundparty im Theater Hagen: Take a Walk on the Wild Side ist musikalisches Road-Movie, theatralisches Rock-Konzert, Underground-Mitmachparty, Bilderflut durch Hits der 68er, vor allem aber: die Rock-Show-Party, die Ihr daraus macht!
