In 2019 Germany will host the Russian cultural festival ‘Russian Seasons’, presenting the wealth of Russian culture in a series of exhibitions, festivals and concerts in order to promote intercultural dialogue and partnerships.
The Deutshce Oper am Rhein has enjoyed a successful working relationship and artistic friendship with Moscow’s Helikon Opera since the joint production of ‘Der goldene Hahn’ (‘The Golden Cockerel’) in 2016. This has deepened further with gala concerts in Düsseldorf in May 2017 and in Moscow in September 2018, in which ensemble members from both opera houses performed on stage together.
Now they will be reunited once again when the Helikon Opera brings its soloists, chorus and orchestra to Duisburg and Düsseldorf for two gala concerts which will build a musical bridge to Russia with major arias, ensemble pieces and choral scenes by Tchaikovsky and Verdi.
