Yalda Abbasî was considered a musical prodigy on the dotar, a two-stringed long-necked lute, from an early age. Her repertoire includes almost forgotten Kurdish folk music and melodies from her northeastern Iranian homeland of Khorasan, which she has rearranged and brought to new life. She performs with the Trio Sêreng (Nure Dlovani violin, Laia Genc piano, Beate Wolff cello), which consciously combines the great variety of Kurdish music with elements of classical music and jazz again and again.
