November gratuliert die Neue-Musik-Welt der großen koreanischen Komponistin Younghi Pagh-Paan zum 75. Geburtstag. Beim NOW!-Festival gibt es aber schon vorher einen kleinen Tusch - mit der Aufführung ihres Streicherwerks "Lebensbaum III". Das WDR Sinfonieorchester unter der Leitung des einzigartigen Emilio Pomàrico spielt - und hat außerdem drei weitere Werke dabei, die bisweilen ebenfalls das Fernöstliche streifen. Wie "Zipangu" des Franko-Kanadiers Claude Vivier (mit "Zipangu" wurde Japan zur Zeit Marco Polos bezeichnet). Und "Yet" des allzu früh verstorbenen Junggenies Christophe Bertrand folgt einer uralten japanischen Gedichtform.
