In her production "Graces", Italian choreographer Silvia Gribaudi holds up a mirror to the dance scene. In this enchanting, tongue-in-cheek quartet, she questions conventional ideals of beauty and overcomes clichés with a great deal of humor.
"Graces" is inspired by Antonio Canova's neoclassical sculpture "The Three Graces." It harks back to Greek mythology and depicts the three daughters of Zeus: Aglaia, Euphrosyne, and Thalia, who bring splendor, joy, and prosperity to mankind. To this day, this sculpture is considered by many to be a timeless point of reference for beauty and proportion.
