In “MOTHER”, German-Greek double bassist Athina Kontou explores the musical tradition of her Greek homeland. It is a search for common ground and a journey between different cultures and styles. Accompanied by saxophonist Luise Volkmann, drummer Dominik Mahnig, and pianist Lucas Leidinger, Athina Kontou combines traditional Greek music, pieces with Armenian or Turkish roots and contemporary compositions.
