Nora Gomringer

Quick Info

Nora Gomringer is one of the best-known poets of her generation. Her new book, “Am Meerschwein übt das Kind den Tod” (The Child Practices Death on the Guinea Pig), is her first novel. It is a brutally honest, poetically fragmented book about saying goodbye to her mother, remembering, and the question of how grief can be transformed into language. It tells the story of a courageous, uncomfortable mother and a daughter who pursues her through writing. A thoughtful book about grief and death, it also offers comfort through its humor. Full of wordplay, eloquence, and worldly wisdom, with an unerring eye for the curious. This festival season, Nora Gomringer is coming to Ruhrfestspiele where she will be a guest of literary critic Denis Scheck. In conversation, she will offer insights into her thinking and writing.
