The video performance POOLS by Marlene Helling and the artistic team portrays three mining areas in terms of ownership, ecological conditions and tourist use. The Hambach open-cast mine, the Dead Sea and the Lusatian lignite mining area are the starting point and material for reflecting on post-industrial landscapes in the Anthropocene. The simultaneity of ecological violence and wellness offers connects these places as well as the connecting lines that Marlene Helling draws on her travels to the three places. Who is actually digging there and how much wellness can the soil take?
